In mid-March of 2020, he founded the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund to give grants to cooks, servers, and other restaurant professionals that were out of work due to COVID-19. In a recent profile by The Hollywood Reporter, Guy Fieri opened up about what went on behind the scenes of the creation of the fund. Jeff Bezos became the richest person in the world by $20 million in August 2020, during the pandemic, and did donate large sums of money to other relief efforts like Feeding America.
