Pink Prosecco would finally be a thing. The supermarket has announced the latest addition to its much-loved sparkling range: Prosecco Rosé DOC, which is just £6.49 a bottle. After a lengthy battle between the government, and producers in Italy, the green light was eventually given to allow Prosecco producers to create a pink-hued version. It’s been in the pipeline since at 2018, but with many believing it would never truly be a Prosecco, the Prosecco DOC Consortium announced that it had updated rules for production, and pink Prosecco plans were unanimously approved by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies’ National Wine Committee. Wine expert, Mistress of Wine, Sam Caporn explains: “Shoppers might have already enjoyed Italian rosé (or rosato) sparkling wine, but it won't actually have been Prosecco, because pink Prosecco hasn't previously been permitted.
